After the madness caused by the Smack/URLTV Summer Madness 3 event (no pun intended), the battle rap scene has seen major progress. Since then, it has gained the attention of A list celebrities such as Eminem, Jadakiss, Paul George, Tyrese, and Jay-Z just to name a few. The leagues in the forefront of battle rap have done an impressive job on building from that momentum. The most notable event afterwards would be the UW (U DUBB) High Stakes event with their much talked about main battle being Hollow Da Don vs Loaded Lux.

The rising culture of battle rap has not only caught the attention of Eminem and Slaughterhouse, but also has caused them to take part in helping the elevation. Shady Records has teamed up with FUSE and Watchloud to bring you their Total Slaughter event. This event has a short lineup, but has legendary battles to make up for it. When battle rap was overlooked, fans never could’ve fathomed the day an industry artist would step in the ring. Nor could they have imagined the day Eminem would put together an event for the culture.

Total Slaughter will be nothing short of ground breaking, regardless of the performances. Although KOTD and UW have introduced pay per view, Shady Records is taking it to the next level by being the first to give fans the luxury of watching battle rap on live tv pay per view. On demand replay on tv will also be available July 13th. Whether you’re a die hard fan or simply someone who is wondering what all the buzz is about, this is the event to watch.

Now a look into the battlers..

Hollow Da Don vs Joe Budden

Hollow Da Don is no stranger to fans of battle rap. Hollow started off building his reputation battling in circuits such as BET and Fight Klub. He then made his presence felt battling on Grind Time and URL. Now he is considered to be a top 5 battle rapper. He is known for his wittiness, rebuttles, freestyle ability, lyrics, wordplay, and punch lines.

Joe Budden is known for being a lyrical talent. Although many fans are in doubt, Joe ensures that he can handle himself in the battle rap world. These two have had many promo videos and interviews going back and forth.

Loaded Lux vs Murda Mook (The rematch)

Loaded Lux is considered to be the reigning king of battle rap. Although he hasn’t had as many battles, he was one of the pioneers of the culture. After his performance against Calicoe, he has been in demand by both fans and battlers. Loaded Lux is known for his complex bars.

Murda Mook is also known to be a pioneer in battle rap. He was one of the first to be filmed during the birth of the visual battle rap scene. One battle being his classic battle with Loaded Lux. Murda Mook is known for his gritty and aggressive style. He will try to break down his opponent by belittling him with personal lines. Mook is also the leader of DOT MOB.

T-REX vs DAYLYT

T-Rex is also a DOT MOB member. He has faced off with battle raps best, making a name for himself since the early SMACK days. Rex is known for his relentless attack style. He is the epitome of the “gun bar” and “hood rap” persona.

Daylyt has had numerous battles where he has not fallen short to entertain the crowd and viewers. Early in his career many have questioned his ability, but as of late he has been delivering his bars. His latest news includes a battle with Ab-Soul and a reported signing to Shady Records. He is mostly known for his antics and props, examples being him having a batman alter ego, and dressing up in costumes to recreate movies.
