Produced by L&X Music — the duo behind J. Cole and Drake’s “In the Morning” and other credits that include Pusha T, Tony Yayo and Rich Hil — the song was inspired by a tragic situation in Jeff’s native Haiti.
After the rapper’s father was involved in a car accident that resulted in the death of a child, Jeff dares to ask the tough questions: Is his father a murderer? Should he hate him for being in a car that took a life long before its time? “Hold Me Down” answers the questions as Jeff confronts his own sins.
