Lil Wayne Settles $20 Million ‘Lollipop’ Lawsuit

0

Lil Wayne has reached a deal with a bitter ex-producer over the Grammy Award-winning hit single “Lollipop,” TMZ is reporting.

According to the celebrity news website, Weezy and producer Darius Harrison, who claims he produced several songs on the Tha Carter III, including “Lollipop,” was never paid for his work and was suing for $20 million of the over $70 million that the album grossed in total.

Although Wayne initially shot that demand down, TMZ reported Monday (April 30) that he and Harrison finally settled the case by reaching a confidential agreement. The case has been dismissed. Deezle wasn’t the track’s only producer that had legal problems with Cash Money. Jim Jonsin too has taken issue with receiving payments from the imprint owned by Ronald “Slim” Williams and Brian “Baby” Williams in the past.

“Lollipop” set off Tha Carter III LP, as the first lead single off the album. “A Milli,” “Got Money” and “Mrs. Officer” all followed as the next batch of singles that the album cooked up and released to the masses.

“Lollipop” also featured late R&B artist Static Major, who died two weeks before the release of the song, but had taken part in the video shoot alongside Weezy for the track before.

Of course, Lil Wayne would go on to release, Tha Carter IV LP last August. That album had Weezy rolling out singles such as “6 Foot 7 Foot,” “John,” “How to Love,” “She Will,” “It’s Good” and “Mirror.” The album reached first week sales of 964,000 copies in the United States during its debut week.
